There is no better feeling than setting some aggressive day trading goals and meeting and or surpassing them during the year. The great thing about ending one year and starting a new year is the ability to start with a clean slate and establish a clear path to either make amends from past mistakes or multiply your successes as you move forward.

Nearly all traders I meet are positive, goal orientated individuals and so this article is not about how to set and achieve goals but instead it is to outline some of the more common day trading goals that people set each year.

Whilst your day trading goals may differ from those listed below you will find a lot of common elements with your goals or if you struggle to set your own goals the list below will form a good benchmark for you to strive towards.

Always remember it is not the destination that leaves you feeling satisfied but instead the journey and the person you become whilst you to strive towards and achieve your goals. Always remember to keep it fun.

1. I will keep a trading journal to record every trade and track my thoughts on each trade
2. I will apply strict money management rules
3. I will learn to pyramid into successful trades and maximize my wins
4. I will only trade when my conditions (high probability set ups) for entry are met and not trade just for the sake of it
5. I will build at least one profitable trading system with a positive expectancy
6. I will establish a daily routine that leads to success in the markets
7. I will seek a trading coach who can move me up the ladder of trading success
8. I will read at least 1 trading biography or trading book a month to enhance my skills and keep me fresh
9. I will be disciplined when my exit conditions are hit and minimize losses according to my trading plan
10. I will learn to pull the trigger straight away as every tick counts
